He is the founder of Pilates4Physio in Downtown Toronto, combining the use of Pilates and manual therapy for rehabilitation. The history of the Pilates4Physio model goes back 2 years ago when he introduced the practice to a Pilates studio in Toronto. Very quickly clients could see the benefits of the combined approach and found they could address the underlying cause of their condition or injury.
Damian’s background is in sports massage which included spending three years touring with Riverdance as the company massage therapist. This experience gave him the hands-on skills for many sports related injuries in the athletic and general population. His background in Pilates dates back 20 years working in London UK as a Pilates instructor specializing in rehabilitation. Damian works with a variety of patients with acute or chronic spinal and peripheral joint injuries, including over-use conditions. Damian’s experience includes working at Toronto East General Hospital, treating fractures and joint surgeries in the outpatient clinic. He has also worked in sports clinics and was clinical director of a busy multi-disciplinary physiotherapy practice.
Damian’s postgraduate physiotherapy training includes advanced manual therapy qualifications with the Canadian Orthopaedic Division and also in the UK and Europe. He is also certified with Stott Pilates as a rehabilitation instructor. He combines hands-on treatments with rehabilitation Pilates to treat the cause of a patients’ condition or injury. He provides an individual approach depending on the presentation of the injury/condition and the
